"Good service, recommended."
I have been using ISO insurance since my Sophomore year. The customer service was great. I original thought the waiver process was really complicated but after I took a screen shot and email ISO my school's waiver requirements they responded promptly with all the instruction. Recommended!

"I had ISO plan a few years ago but was"
I had ISO plan a few years ago but was fortunate that my medical claims was partially paid but every effort is made to provide you with the fastest and best waiver service. However, occasionally disputes or misunderstandings can arise and you need to know what to do. "Claims: If you wish to make a complaint about a claim please contact your Claim Administrator as defined in your plan's brochure. Sales/Policy Administration: If you wish to make a complaint about anything else other than claims, please contact ISO's customer service complaint team. Further Steps: If you remain dissatisfied and are unable to resolve the situation, you may also refer your complaint to the Complaints team at Lloyd's at: One Lime Street, London, EC3M 7HA, United Kingdom. Tel: +44-20-7327-5693, fax: +44-20-7327-5225, www lloyds. com/complaints. Details of Lloyd's complaints procedures are set out in a leaflet "Your Complaint - How We Can Help" available at www. lloyds. com/complaints and also available from the above address. If you remain dissatisfied after Lloyd's has considered your complaint, you may have the right to refer your complaint to your local ombudsman or dispute resolution body. Alternatively you may be entitled to refer your complaint to the United Kingdom Financial Ombudsman Service, further details will be provided at the appropriate stage of the complaint process." Are you kidding me? Lloyds is a reinsurance company. If there is anyone to blame we should all blame our respective schools for accepting and recommending this company. Ask the student advisor that is considering sponsoring or allowing their students to purchase ISO plans if their students or anyone in administration wants to call the Lloyds of London"œOmbudsman" should they have serious complaint about ISO, premiums, refunds, effective or termination dates, or a disputed claim.

"ISO is a company of unscrupulous thugs"
ISO is a company of unscrupulous thugs. Do NOT get insurance with them. NEVER purchase any kind of plan from this insurance company. It is 100% a scam. It's been the case TWICE that I receive weird letters from debt collectors saying that I have a "pending health charge" that is more than a year old! When I call and inquire, the clinic tells me that my insurance at the time (ISO) rejected the charge on the basis that they lacked information. ISO NEVER reached out to me directly so I could provide the information they needed! They just let my insurance plan expire without ever informing me of this! I am calling my school and alumni association to have this insurance company REMOVED from my school's recommended international insurance plans. UPDATE: I never received any form of communication either from the provider OR ISO, even though I knew my information was up to date because I kept renovating my insurance plan with them. Don't act like I was receiving communication and kept ignoring it, I never received anything. In fact, I had to go through the nasty experience of finding out about old health charges from debt collectors! I wonder, how does a debt collector manage to find me and not an insurance company that allegedly has all my information, INCLUDING personal email? It's absolutely unacceptable and inexcusable. And my school is no longer recommending you guys because sadly, I am not the first to complain. Ugh. Get it together.

"Bad customer service, misleading information, not found in-network providers, a lot of frustration..."
You can tell how I feel about this company from the length of this post. Other schools already noticed this scam company here at colleges-fear-international-students-are-purchasing-inadequate-health-plans-private (for Cornell) I performed a blood test within a specialized clinic within my health center. The South Bend Medical Center is a partner in network with my health center, actually located within my school's health center and shared the same billing system with my health center. It is like a small clinic in a health center that specialized a health researching and lab service. ISO rejected my reimbursement as the bill is from South Bend Medical Center, because it is not an in-network provider. It would make the picture look worse when I looked up and ISO does not even have any in network provider within my area (not even in Chicago, New York or Dallas - not sure if they are a real company :( ) . I had no options within 100 miles to find an ISO's in-network provider for a blood test. I talked to my health center people. The SB Center and my health center had worked together and they even had the same bill for my vaccination but just the blood test was billed separately. The ISO people never listened to me or contacted my health center for confirmation. The situation is complicated so I am willing to negotiate and explain the situation but when I called, the insurance company ISO did not listen to my full story and just coldly and irresponsibly talked to me coldly and like "whatever you said, we will not pay you, bye bye". I think it is very misleading when ISO look like a decent insurance company at first but there are very limited (like no) numbers of in-network providers (I have not found any of them yet). I spent an hour researching in-network providers and have not found any, even in big or small cities. They should have clarified their policy that it is probable that they can only cover the expenses from health centers = I paid 880$ for everything that can be done in my health center, nothing else. It is just not very good faith to advertise something that is not possible. Now they even cannot pay for the blood test that happened within the health center. Like all should be done in a lab partner with a health center but under the other name than Health center. This misleading situation will get even worse if students get in emergency situations and very likely that they have to suffer the financial burden. In terms of customer service, I just need a better understanding of my situation from the company's representatives. My written appeal has been always kept "under review" status. My school is located in a suburban town without in-network providers. No one at ISO understands for the situation of being sick and the illogical reasoning of having to travel 100 miles to another city to find the insurance company's in-network provider (which is none) for just a blood test when I first talked to them. And ISO advertised a lot about how to help international students with cheap coverage plan but never mention about the part of bad customer service, the inconvenience and not much coverage. Now I have to question Healthsmart company to for its credibility. The claiming process also drove me nuts. They have been also very inconsistent toward rejecting or reviewing my claim, which wasted a lot of my time. When I talked to these people on February, they said that the claim department can consider the situation. This month, July, one lady (her name is Keren) just ended up rudely shutting me down by making the decision that she could not refund me while at the beginning she said she could talk to the claim department ( I am not even sure if there is a claim department) and she sent me to her supervisor's voicemail (never receive a call back or any response). I know the insurance industry is rough. This is the first time that I used a different insurance other than my school's insurance Aetna but I feel like Aetna has so much more good faith. The price of the insurance package is much cheaper than Aetna but thinking about getting in an emergency one day and there is no chance to get coverage, I WOULD NOT recommend this insurance company to anyone. I will also report this situation for my school so that they may reconsider not to approve this insurance company. Considering this company's bad faith, the saving will not worth the frustration, inconvenience and financial burdens in real deal like a day in a hospital, which may cost more than 10,000$. I expect a service for international student should be trustworthy and in good faith. Please do not take advantage of international students. We did not try/pretend to get sick to trick the company or anything.

"I was on ISOA insurance since June 2015"
I was on ISOA insurance since June 2015 to February 2018. I valued the insurance so much and I had some health issue back from 2015, so i need to go to hospital for checkup and have complete bloodtest, thyroid test. I preferred going to ISOA approved hospitals and during the course when I spoke to customer care representative of ISOA, they mentioned that they will not cover for my expenses. I requested for my money refund of the ISOA insurance that I paid or atleast clear the hospitals and lab bills, they simply said that they will pay for other cases but not for my regular health checkup and general tests, lab tests; Its pathetic to be on ISOA insurance. I thought ISOA is some valuable insurance and I continued with them till 3 years. 3 yrs is huge period you guys. I paid plenty on my insurances and nothing I got benefited. Felt very bad when I paid all of my hospitals bills from my pocket. :( :( I expect refund of my bills $1590..

"This is the worst investment ever"
This is the worst investment ever you can make for your health... They will charge you ~$600-$700 for a 6 month plan and a little upwards of a $1000 for a 1 year plan. But be clear that THE ONLY RETURN ON YOUR INVESTMENT YOU WILL EVER GET IS MINIMUM CREDITABLE COVERAGE acceptable in almost all states in the US. You will NEVER, I repeat, NEVER get any reimbursement for a single dime you spend towards health insurance with any health care provider. I had to visit the Emergency Room of a highly reputed hospital in Western Massachusetts once in late 2017 when I was on this insurance. Firstly ISOA was not even listed as a creditable health insurance provider in their system. They were nice enough to do some research on their own and figure out that the insurance is actually provided by an agency called HealthSmart, ISOA is just an intermediary. After my visit, I got a bill of around $2700 for a half-day stay in the ER. Since it was a life-threatening condition for which I had to visit the ER, I figured ISOA would cover it. But they instead they sent me a letter via snail mail every time I would send a query (email or phone doesn't exist apparently in their office), informing me that I was responsible for covering the entire amount and they would not pay for it sighting the reasons that they didn't have enough information to process the claim from the provider, they didn't have my medical history to make sure this wasn't related to a pre-existing condition, etc. I sent them ALL the information they requested after making several trips to the hospital's administrative offices and requesting the right documents. But still they kept denying to reimburse the claim saying I didn't provide them with some or the other information. This went on for over 6 months! The hospital was all over me for getting their money, kept sending me bills and phone calls... I had no option but to pay out of my own pocket eventually when I had a job.

"Real bad!!!!"
Real bad!!!! I hope that I wouldn't use this company! I filled a claim for 6 months now and they never pay any attention. I've called health smart customer service every 1-2 weeks just to find out that they need more information every time. After I sent many additional information, they kept ask for more information and never looked or processed the information that I already sent. Now, I'm in the middle of in-process claim and the hospital is coming after me! Bottom line is DON'T USE ISOA/HEALTHSMART!!!! IT"S THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

"The absolute worst service."
Please avoid. scam alert! I would give no stars what so ever. In my 2 years as a international student, I went to the hospital once for a regular check up for headache. The hospital billed $260 and now, 2 years after the event, I am still having a headache calling the insurance company to clear the account. They promise to clear the account every month but I keep getting calls from the collection agency every now and then. Most frustrating bunch to deal with. Don't waste your precious savings and time with this company. ISO is a joke.

"EVERYBODY PLEASE CHECK THEIR ANSWER"
EVERYBODY PLEASE CHECK THEIR ANSWER BELOW!! Here is the proof how this health insurance is the worst! They don't even know the difference between virus and bacteria. I was diagnosed with bacterial sinus infection and I had cold symptoms before, that not include fever and all the bacterial symptoms. Once again I want to say that a bacterial sinus infection may not be caused by a cold, once this one is not bacterial, it could be maximum a virus, it is a different diagnostic. You must know the difference. Moreover, 20 days after my first visit I visited the specialist because the first doctor asked me to see a specialist after taking the antibio to see if the infection was gone. I did just to check it, and they are claiming that it is also for a previous sickness. THEY WANT TO STEAL YOUR MONEY AND HERE IS THE PROOF! They are looking kind in their answer, trying to revert the situation, but the reality is that I have already sent a lot of emails for them copying everybody. And they still not resolving any question. It started all in January by the way!

"Bad Experience DON'T buy ISO/HealthSmart Insurance"
Very bad customer service, spoke to a lady called Karen. She was rude and difficult to work with. She was not helpful at all. Its better to not buy insurance from these guys, it's better to go hospital and pay them the bill in full (just have 2 doctor visits for the whole time), felt this was cheaper as my bills that I pay are lesser compared to the insurance I purchased from these guys. I have to now pay 100s of dollars to a hospital! She also says Health Smart is a contracting company that was hired by ISO for processing claims and things! I feel terrible for buying insurance that is useful at all.
