"Avoid this place!"
Gear was in good condition but the price was a bit high, I went ahead because I needed the gear that day. When I asked for a discount I was told ' I am a businessman' no discount. Just received this reply from Beryl Guitars. " TrustScore 6.1 / 101 Reviews Reply from Beryl Guitars Published 6 minutes ago Hi there, We are sorry to hear that you were not 100% happy. Second hand items are priced according to their condition, ultimately the decision to purchase is always up to you. Discounts are generally not given unless an item is on sale. We will forward your comment as we are here to build a community, corporate is not our style. Have a great weekend." I regret to reply but I do find your remarks patronising and condescending. I was asked to give a review and did so honestly. You should accept the feedback with courtesy and gratitude as it helps to build your business, if you are serious about your reputation and building a business. You did not price the gear according to condition, it was priced higher than brand new . Yes it was my decision to purchase as I explained I needed it on that day, if anything you took advantage of me , there is no need for comments like that , it is like saying well its your own fault if you pay a high price. You did not apologise for the condescending remark about ' I am a businessman'. Well you are not a very good one because I have told everyone I know not to shop with you, and will continue to do so. I do not understand your remark about Community and Corporate, those ideals are not mutually exclusive, you are just trying to sound clever. Finally do not wish me a great weekend because you don't mean it, you are a businessman remember?

"The Guitar Fault That Never Was"
This guy opened a guitar shop in the local area last year (2017). Prior to that, he was operating out of a small unit in the same building. Since the shop opened, I've seen a few positive reviews and comments on Facebook. As I don't post on Facebook, I'd like to share the experience of my first-and last- encounter with Beryl Guitars. Although it was quite a long time ago, it remains the worst experience I've ever had with any music retailer. On the morning of an important local gig, I discovered an apparent problem with the guitar I was going to use throughout that gig. There appeared to be no output from the guitar. I checked the amp. No problem. Tried a different lead. Still no output. In a blind panic, I called Beryl Guitars and explained the situation. I was invited to take the guitar in and they'd have a look at it, which I did. That afternoon, I got a call saying that the guitar had been done and could be collected. I asked what the cost would be. Fifty pounds. Went in to collect the guitar and asked what the problem had been and what work had been done. The response was something like: "We cleaned the electrics". I paid the fifty pounds and left, relieved that I could play the gig with my guitar of choice. At the soundcheck, it immediately became apparent that the fault had not been with the guitar. There had been nothing wrong with it all along. The problem was in fact due to the first lead I'd tried earlier in the day having failed. At the point where I'd tried a different lead, the power to the backline had momentarily been switched off, making it appear that the fault lay with the guitar. The most expensive unnecessary bit of "electrics cleaning" I've ever paid for. Didn't complain, as technically they'd carried out 'work' on the guitar. Haven't been back since and don't intend visiting in future. The response underneath is their standard patronising answer to legitimate criticism. A friend recently received an identical response to an email complaining about a shoddy repair and having been sold a guitar lead which wasn't necessary.
